Cliche Clocks: Altered Speed Analog Clocks
2008. Personal Project.
For this project, the movement speeds of three analog clocks were modified to express cliches people frequently use when speaking about time. “Time Flies” is sped up, zooming around the clock face like a cartoon. “Let’s Call it a Day” crawls along, ticking off one day at a time. “Just a Minute!” gives the user his day in sixty second chunks.

In Praise of Lights That Clamp
2009. Personal Project.
I have a deep affinity for simple products - the ones that are seemingly incidental or obvious, but are still vital.
This project is an update of the humble clamp light. The final product is made of cold-blued plasma-cut steel and is finished with a 60W chrome-tipped incandescent bulb.

North/South Double EP Packaging
In collaboration with Michael Gluzman and Georgios Saliaris. For Mingle.
When Michael and I spoke with Will about his past and present, the summer days of his youth in his grandfather’s wood-working shop came up as often as the urbanity of his new surroundings.
The resulting design we delivered to him is laser-etched into burled wood veneer. It engages the duality of our client’s journey, pitting digital versus physical, process versus material, and new versus old.

In collaboration with Kevin Byrd. For Armchair.
For this ad, I lent art direction, arising from experimentation with over-sized laser-cut typography. A video that came out of this period of exploration can be found here.

Georgia Tech Architecture Centennial Poster
in collaboration with Stefan Kjartansson, Kevin Byrd, Farbod Kokabi, Raymond Forbes, and Ted Ullrich. For Armchair.
This poster celebrates the 100th anniversary of Georgia Tech’s College of Architecture. It’s celebrated with a lecture series by graduates of the College. Under Stefan and Kevin’s direction at Armchair, I assisted with production of the graphic artwork and typography, and designed and produced the poster’s ‘opening sequence.’
The development process of this project was highly collaborative and discursive, focused around the issue of how to visually describe this program’s 100 year tenure. The client latched on to this concept - 100 circles that refer to the centennial. Each circle is proportional to the graduation class size for each year. The poster was mailed to architecture schools, organizations, and alumni.
